SkyBus from Melbourne Airport to City Centre

One of the best ways to get directly from Melbourne Airport to City Centre is by riding SkyBus.

There are 3 different routes to Melbourne city and surroundings:

- Melbourne City Express: to go directly to the city centre. It will take to Southern Cross Station, where connects with regional V line trains, metro, Yarra trams and several bus lines. Opening hours: 24 hours’ daily every 10 minutes, except between 1 am to 4 am, which is every 30 minutes. The trip is about 30 – 45 minutes.

There is also a free Hotel Shuttle available to all passengers. For more information please check out this website. Opening hours: 6.00 am – 10.30 pm weekdays, 6.00 am – 7.00 pm weekends. The trip length will be up to your hotel’s location.

- St Kilda Express: If you wish to get to Melbourne seaside. Airport to St Kilda: Opening hours: from 6.48 am to 7.10 pm daily every 30 minutes on weekdays and from 6.45 am to 6.45 pm every 60 minutes on weekends. Departure: Melbourne Airport Terminal 4. The trip is about 60 – 75 minutes.

St Kilda to Airport: from 6.17 am to 6.50 am on weekdays and from 06.17 am to 7.17 pm on weekends. Departure: Kerbside from Terminal 4.

- Frankston & Peninsula Airport Shuttle: You can get to Frankston (to the bayside). and suburbs. Opening hours: 4.20 am to 7.25 pm daily. Departure: Melbourne Airport Terminal 4. The trip length will be up to your final destination.

Location

You can find bus stops and ticket booths in front of Terminal 1, 3 and 4, once you get out of the building and go to the right side (next to each terminal).

Public buses

There are plenty of public buses which can take you from Melbourne Airport to City Centre. See the options below:

Smart Bus Route 901

This route connects Melbourne Airport to Frankston by Broadmeadows. The ride to Frankston takes 4 hours. Opening hours: 5 am to 9 pm daily every 15 minutes’ weekdays, 5 am to midnight every 30 (Sunday to 9 pm).

Connection with railway services

You can also use this line to connect with Broadmeadows station and ride either regional or long distance railway services, since it is a cheap way to get to city centre. To reach city centre, you need to take Craigieburn line to Melbourne. The ride will take you just 20 minutes.

Tullamarine Bus lines (Route 478 / Route 479 / Route 482 / Route 500)

Provide service from Melbourne Airport to Airport West and Sunbury.

478 – Melbourne airport via Melrose Drive to Airport West: Opening hours: From 6.37 am to 5.52 pm Monday to Friday every hour, Saturday & Sunday from 8.05 am to 4.20 pm every hour. The ride takes about 15 minutes.

479 –Sunbury Station via Melbourne Airport to Airport West: Opening hours: From 5.45 am to 7.32 pm Monday to Friday every hour, Saturday & Sunday from 8.45 am to 4.32 pm every hour. The ride takes about 45 minutes.

482 – Melbourne Airport via South Centre to Airport West: Opening hours: From 7.07 am to 6.37 pm Monday to Friday every hour. The ride takes about 16 minutes.
